How do I know if my parakeet is pregnant or not?

My female parakeet eats alot, is she pregnant? How would I know, cause last night I put her in a box with a male and closed it, and they were close and touching each and stuff like that.

I have a male & a female parakeet. I’ve had them for about 3-4 months. Today I heard one of them make a very brief, weird noise. I went down to check on them and I found a large, brown thing at the bottom of the cage. (not an egg) Could my female parakeet be pregnant? I Researched and it said that when a parakeet is pregnant, she will start to poop a lot and it will be very large.
….Any suggestions?

I have seen that the male parakeet climbs on top of the female like 3 times? They’re mating right?
