Parrots have been extraordinarily favored among pet owners and it is not hard to grasp why. A couple of the preferred reasons why parrots make awesome and lovable pets are because of their high intelligence and their ability to talk. Unfortunately, most people overlook the disadvantage of having parrots as pets; most people think that correct parrot care is that easy.
If you are one of those people that are considering buying a parrot, I would advice you to think it one hundred times over to avoid making an inaccurate call. One of the questions that you should ask yourself is- will you be in a position to spend time and effort to properly take care of|take care parrot?
Parrot Care Tips
If your answer to this query is no, give yourself a favor and forget getting a pet parrot. Truthfully, parrot care is hard and it should never be treated lightly. Correct care is vital for the health and well-being of your pet, and it might definitely take lots of your time in doing so. That is why we must consider these necessary elements for correct parrot care to make sure that we may be able to raise our pet correctly. The following are important desires that you may address to correctly look after your pets : correct cage care, healthy diet, grooming, and love.
A parrot cage must be sufficiently big enough for your pet to comfortably live in it ; you should ensure that their cages are to push your pets and your family’s health.
For their diet, parrots need the same nourishment as that of humans, nourishment is crucial in maintaining a good quality of living for your pets. Often , your parrots diet will contain pellets and seed. However, it’s a smart move to offer them variety of nutritious foods such as fresh vegetables and fruits.
Parrot needs minimal grooming because your pet has the facility to clean itself by preening; however, it remains advisable that you can give them a bathe at least once a week.
Lastly, you must understand that because they are playful, affectionate, and intelligent they need you to nurture it. They need constant interaction from their owners, now you could disagree that another parrot may make up for this but in truth it is not not the case. You need to personally devote at least a couple of hours a day to your pet to keep them from getting bored and stressed.

Parrots are a lifetime investment and the care of these magnificent birds is very essential to their health and happiness. Since some birds in the parrot family can live up to 50 years, an investment in parrots and how to care for them is often compared to caring for children. If this is something that does not interest you, then you may not want to own a bird.
There are an estimated 11 million pet birds in the United States alone with the majority owning a Parrot. The birds in the parrot family will include birds as small as parakeets and love birds to cockatoos and Macaws, the Macaw being the largest bird in the parrot family.
There are many different species of parrots. An African grey parrot grows to be about 13 inches, and he’s one of the birds who has a longer life. He is also known for his capabilities to mimic all sorts of sounds, in addition to developing and parroting speech patterns.
The parakeet are among the best known of the parrot species. Another species is the Australian “budgie.” This nickname is given to the budgerigar, a brilliant green and yellow variety of parrot. They are gentle and friendly.
An Amazon parrot has 27 subspecies. This parrot has short wings but is every bit as smart as a dolphin or a monkey. He is also an expert at imitating a wide range of sounds.
These are only some of the many species of parrots. Owning a parrot is an excellent alternative over other pets for those individuals who do not prefer the traditional dogs or cats, reptiles or others.
So what sort of cage should you buy for your new parrot? Regardless of whether you’re expecting to adopt a smaller bird or a larger of the parrot species, my suggestion is to buy the largest, practical cage that your budget can afford. The bigger the cage, the more freedom he will experience and the more comfortable he will be.
In relation to your parrot’s health, his appearance is telling. His plumage should look healthy, meaning the coloring should be bright and smooth. Additionally, he should be clean. That is, there should be no dirt hanging for his feet or his beak.
Before you purchase a parrot, you should get a clear understanding of the types of routine parrot care that is needed, medical care for parrots, understand parrot types and their personalities and which size parrot would best fit your wants and needs.
Become well educated in the ownership and care of these wonderful birds and you will be enjoying your new parrot in no time.

How to Handle Noisy Parrots

Parrots are noisy birds and if you have made a decision to keep a parrot, you have to learn to adapt to the squeaky sounds that they make. Yes they can talk beautiful words and entertain you. They can also sing like Bing Crosby. But there is also the other side, where they scream and squeak until your eardrums fell out.
Even the quietest of parrots can scream loud enough and often enough to make you wish you had kept a cat instead. The incessant screams can lead to complaints from your neighbors so be prepared to handle that.
So how do you get your parrots to shut up? You can’t use a scotch tape to tie the bird’s beak. The answer to that is to understand how parrots communicate and why they make all those noises. It is normal for a parrot to squeak or squawk and you have to accept that there is no such thing as a quiet parrot. Parrots can squawk for hours just like humans talk and chat non-stop. Then at the right time when the parrot has had enough, it will be quiet.
As in humans, the more comfortable a parrot is with its surroundings the more it will squawk. That’s why when you first take your parrot home it will be fairly quiet as it begins to adapt to its new home and surroundings. Once that is settled, be prepared for parrot noises.
However, parrots don’t squawk all day long. They usually do so early in the morning and then quiet down. They will then start the process again around sunset. They will also get a little active vocally after a nap. This is normal behavior which you should not worry about. It is an indication that your parrot is happy with its environment. If you feel that your parrot is noisier than usual, then it is quite possible that you have chosen a species that is more vocal than others. A Macaw can scream at ear piercing decibels for up to ten minutes at a time as compared to an African Grey or a Cockatoo.
As a parrot owner, you need to learn to identify between happy chirping and upset squawks. This is not hard to do once you have lived with your parrot after sometime. Upset squawks have a tone of desperation and unhappiness about them.
Once you’ve determined the cause of the noise, you can make your parrot quiet by giving it something to do. Like a baby, bored parrots scream more. Give them different parrot toys to amuse themselves and play with. You will notice that the sound will become less noisy and less frequent once the toys are placed in their cages.
Another thing you can look into is your parrot’s diet. Make sure that the food is fresh and has not expired. A healthy parrot is not going to be as noisy as one that is being fed with a proper meal.
Also look at the cage and ensure that the parrot has enough space to move about. Parrots squeal more in smaller cages. Let it out of the cage often so that the bird can feel the open space.
As a parrot owner, you have to accept the fact that parrots are noisy. But your love for parrots and their companionship means more to you than little noise inconveniences. What you can do is to look out for factors that cause your parrots to scream more and address that so that the noise can be minimized.

SEO Strategy Using Long Tail Keywords
Using long tail keywords in your search engine optimization techniques is a good strategy. Long tail keywords are less competitive, making it easier for you to rank highly in Google. Searchers who dig deeper into popular keywords by keying in long tail keywords are more likely to make a purchase as compared to those that browse using single keyword terms. Clever use of long tail keywords can also rank higher than popular keywords.

Parrots Have Often Been Described As Better Life Partners Than Human Beings

The subfamily Arinae encompasses all the Neotropical parrots, including the Amazons, macaws and conures, and range from northern Mexico and the Bahamas to Tierra del Fuego in the southern tip of South America. Seed eating parrots have a strong tongue which helps to manipulate seeds or position nuts in the bill so that the mandibles can apply an appropriate cracking force.
The first think you should realize is that parrots have very long lifespans. On the ground parrots often walk with a rolling gait. Some parrots can live to be over 75 years old! This is important to thin about because you may have your pet for the rest of your life. Some other questions to ask yourself are:
- Are you planning on going to college? – Not only have parrots demonstrated intelligence through scientific testing of their language using ability, but some species of parrot such as the Kea are also highly skilled at using tools and solving puzzles? – Do you like to travel a lot? – Will your parrot out live you?
Tens of millions of parrots have been removed from the wild, and parrots have been traded in greater numbers and for far longer than any other group of wild animals. Although there are a few exceptions, parrots are monogamous breeders which nest in cavities and hold no territories other than their nesting sites.
Aviculturists working with parrots have identified the need for environmental enrichment to keep parrots stimulated. Due to these problems, and the fact that homeless parrots are not euthanized like dogs and cats, parrot adoption centers and sanctuaries are becoming more common? Also, do you have any other pets? Dogs and cats may be dangerous for your parrot. If you are getting a smaller type parrot, a ferret may even be fatal for your bird.Parrot species are found in most zoos, and a few zoos participate in breeding and conservation programs.
Some parrots have also benefited from human changes to the environment in some instances, and have expanded their ranges where agricultural practices, and many parrots have declined as well. Pet parrots may be kept in a cage or aviary; though generally, tame parrots should be allowed out regularly on a stand or gym. Your parrot’s beak is very strong and you will be going through bird toys pretty fast. You’ll also have to keep buying your parrot’s food and treats! Not to mention your parrot’s cleaning supplies, you have a lot of things to buy every month and you may be spending around $100 a month for your parrot which may be a lot of money!
Another factor to consider is of course… noise. Parrots can be very vocal at times — including early in the morning and late at night. You can imagine why I don’t recommend parrots as pets for people that live in apartments or townhouses…
If you have children then you should realize how strong a parrot’s beak is. Without question the most important of these to most true parrots and cockatoos are seeds. This could do a lot of damage! An absence of stimuli can retard the development of young birds, as demonstrated by a group of Vasa Parrots kept in tiny cages with domesticated chickens from the age of 3 months; at 9 months these birds still behaved in the same way as 3 month olds, but had adopted some chicken behavior!

Border Collies as Working Dogs
Border collies were bred to herd sheep and cattle and consequently have intelligence, energy and a strong herding instinct. Pet Parrots Respond To Good Parrot Care In Every Way

Parrots have long been an attraction for people in the wild and as pets. They are a stunning species and their range of colors, size and individual characteristics are admired by different parrot lovers. When owning a parrot one thing that parrot parents need to be sure of is their parrot care. As with owning any pet, parrots need to be looked after in the right way to ensure the parrots best health.
The following is a list of basic needs for a pet parrot:
- The right size cage or aviary
- Regular cleaning of the cage or aviary so that no bacteria is going to harm the parrot
- The right type of food in their diet with consideration to the right mix of food
- Feeding at the right time for a parrot
- Water for bathing which should only be in the cage for a short time for the parrot to give itself a quick wash down
- Water for drinking as this is quite separate to bathing water or alternatively mist spray the bird once a day
- Suitable perches for the bird, one that is the right size and tree branches are ideal so that they can pick at them as they like to do
- Toys to go in the cage for a parrot to play with so that it will not get bored
- Good perch for the parrot to use outside the cage
- Cover for the parrot when it goes to sleep at night
When the ‘basics’ of parrot care is covered the parrot owner will find that they have a very happy parrot and not only will the parrot be happy, the owner will find the parrot is more acceptable to being taught to talk and to do tricks. A stressed parrot is not going to learn. Not very different from humans really! We don’t learn well when we are stressed, either.
It seems like a lot of work but then again, any pet is. They are reliant on the owner doing all the right things to make sure their life within the family confines is a happy one. Companionship Parrots are birds that enjoy living in a flock so in a home situation the parrot is going to consider the family its flock and for this reason it is important that there is a lot of interaction between the bird and the family. Once familiarity is built it is easy to tell when a parrot is unhappy and parrot owners can take steps to do something about that as the parrot may need toys or more company.
It is advisable to make sure that small children do not handle the parrot unless an adult is near just in case the parrot does get agitated. In saying that I have some lovely photos of my small children holding feed trays out to parrots and the experience was enjoyed by all.

Buy a Spacious Parrot Cage for your Pet Parrots

If you prefer a round parrot cage, you would do well to know your parrot doesn’t like it. There must be some corners in the cage so that the bird can feel comfortable and safe. Make sure you keep enough bird toys in the cage, so that the parrot can stay active and stress free. The general rule of thumb is, larger the cage, happier the parrot.
A small parrot doesn’t Mean a Small Parrot Cage
Even small Parakeets should be provided a large parrot cage, which should be at least 18 inches wide, 14 inches deep and 22 inches high. This is only the minimum requirement and you can build as large a cage as you want. The bird should at least be able to fly around a little, flap wings and hop between the perches. These activities would ensure that your parrot is happy, stress free and healthy.
Larger Parrots should also have Some Space
For larger parrots, a parrot cage should be at least 40 inches wide because their wings are larger than that of Parakeets. The parrot cage should be so high that the parrot’s tail doesn’t touch the bottom of the cage when it is sitting on any of the perches. You must have some space over the head of a parrot so that you can hang some bird toys. The bird feels suffocated when there is not much space (or toys) within the parrot cage. Parrots prefer their cage to be square, rectangular or hexagonal in shape. Corners are very necessary so that birds can have some sense of direction. There is no point of reference within a rounded parrot cage so it’s difficult for the parrot to know the direction it is standing in. Lack of sense of direction makes the bird confused and restless. Birds prefer horizontal bars compared to vertical bars since horizontal ones also serve as extra perches.
Parrots shouldn’t Miss Their Home
When parrots are in the jungle, their life is full of activity and flying from one tree to another comes naturally to them. The owner’s aim should be to make sure the parrots miss their original home as little as possible. That’s why you need to hang extra bird toys and ensure that the parrot’s life is full of activity even within the parrot cage. Parrots should be given the opportunity to interact with their owner as much as possible and they should be able to feel a part of their owner’s body (such as finger or face) from within the cage.
Change the bird toys frequently
If the same toy is left hanging near the parrots for a long time, they get bored easily. A practical solution may be to use some home made bird toys so that they can be changed frequently. Leather toys should be avoided because they become sticky due to nectar they are fed with.
Powder Coating for Parrot Cage
If you are getting the parrot cage painted, you should go for powder coating rather than conventional way of painting. There should be no sharp articles within the parrot cage since birds are vulnerable to them. Popular parrot cage materials are wrought iron, stainless steel, wire, bamboo, plastic and wood. Cages made from wood, plastic and bamboo are not likely to last very long whereas those made of metals tend to last longer. Therefore, if you see a parrot cage as a long-term investment you should go for metal cages. You should, however, avoid lead and zinc because both these metals are harmful for the birds.

Everybody likes to be entertained and pet birds are no different. Presence of bird toys in bird cages encourages curiosity among the birds and ensures their well-being. It does not matter whether you are using bells, ladders, swings or anything else, you should just keep your bird’s habits and preferences in mind. All bird toys are not suitable for all birds, so you need to be careful while making the selection of toys.

Buy the right bird toys for your pet birds
Bird toys are probably not amongst the first things, which come to mind when considering what is required in the care of a parrot. However, choosing the right toys would provide your parrot with a safe and engaging environment to play and exercise in, both when confined in its parrot cage and even when left to roam around the house, and help with its development.
