How do I introduce a 3 year old parakeet to a new cage?

Just got a beautiful new cage for our beloved parakeet Maui. Any suggestions on how to make this transition? There is no real info in our budgie manual, or when I googled it just now, and hoped someone could give us some advise. Thank you!

How do I introduce my older, socially inept parakeet to a new one?

I have a two year old male budgeriar parakeet. His mate died a year ago, and he has horrible social skills (even before she died.) He gets so excited when he sees another animal he winds up hurting it when really hes trying to be nice.

I purchased a 12 week old lovebird I placed its cage in front of my other lovebirds cage (he is in his cage alone) I have noticed that since I have put the cage there that he sits as close as he can to the other birds cage and the baby does this with him as well should I try to put them together or just wait a while longer
