I hav two very large bird cages, they are taller rather than long and I am planning to get two ferrets. Instead of paying big money for a new ferret cage, how can I convert my cages into a large ferret cage? I think platforms are necessary and was wondering if anyone had done this before or just had any ideas…thanks!

What can I use to connect bird cage parts together?

I have the bird cage parts connected by safety pins temporarily. I was wondering what I could use to permanently keep the parts together. I took 2 bird cages apart and put the parts together to make my own large rat cage. I’ve got about $5 at the moment, so if there’s something that cheap that I could buy to connect the parts I’ll buy it. So does anyone have any ideas? Also I wanted to make a custom bottom for the cage. What should I use to make that?

When can my hand fed baby parakeet start eating seeds?

I have a very young parakeet whom was badly mutilated by another parakeet. I managed to save him (though I am unsure how he survived). I have been feeding him formula for birds but he requires feedings every two hours. I am anxious for when he can eat on his own but i have no idea on how long that is going to take and I don’t want to push him until he is ready.
He is approximately 2 weeks old.
